our SelseyOur Annual General Meeting is due to take place on Wednesday, 11 March 2009, 7.30 p.m. at Selsey Town Hall. Many of you will be familiar with the personalities behind SOS, having talked to us at our stall during local events. However, for others we may seem like faceless figures, so please read on for a peep behind the scenes!
Our current committee members are all local residents and are as follows:
The committee meets every 4-6 weeks as well as keeping in touch regularly by email and ‘phone. We benefit from the advice of a civil engineer and keen supporter - Richard Armfield BSc CEng MICE, Director of Rural Arisings - and have a valiant band of around 40 deliverers who help us ensure that our newsletters reach approximately 4,500 local households. The joy of having so many folk willing to deliver is that it is never a crisis if someone is ill, on holiday or just unable to help at any particular time – there is invariably someone else who can fill the breach! In addition, we have ‘occasional’ helpers willing to be called upon for other tasks, such as collecting signatures. SOS would find it hard to function without such a supportive network and takes this opportunity to thank each and every one of you.
We are happy to announce that Roger Barrow of Selsey Net has kindly taken over the management of our website www.saveourselsey.org. At the time of writing he has almost completed the new-look site and, by the time you read this, we hope it will be fully operational and that those of you with internet access will enjoy navigating it! We are extremely grateful to Ian Sharp who so tirelessly gave of his free time to set up and manage the original site at the start of our campaign. We are also delighted that SOS has been awarded a Grassroots Grant, by the Sussex Community Foundation, which will be of immense value, particularly with regard to printing and publicity costs.
We hope that many of you will be able to attend our AGM in March. The formalities will be dealt with as swiftly as possible, leaving time for your questions on this challenging and ongoing issue of our coastal defences.
Contact us: via www.saveourselsey.org or by letter hand delivered to the SOS box in the reception area of Selsey Town Council, for which facility we are deeply grateful.
